Collards Distillery Co was founded in 2017 by Tom Collard in Rhayader, Mid Wales. The Collard family have a rich history within the pub trade going back over 4 generations and still run the Lion Royal Hotel in their home town of Rhayader.

The new logo design for Collards Distillery.

Tom was first introduced to the unique, raw flavour of Moonshine during a trip to visit family in the USA. He was instantly captivated by the range and subtlety of flavours available.Upon his return to Mid Wales, Tom found it very difficult to get hold of quality Moonshine within the UK at a reasonable price. Not to be deterred, he hid himself away to research the process of creating authentic Moonshine with a Welsh twist. Less than two years later, Collards distillery was born.

The Project

The task attributed to Pixelhaze was to create an authentic website which would assist with the promotion and sales of their Welsh Mountain Moonshine range. The website required a simple layout to ensure customers can easily navigate through key pages. Quality presentation of the products was critical to the brief, ensuring the brand stayed true to the Welsh roots and it's traditionally crafted approach.

Our Solution

We developed two unique brands (Collards Distillery, Shine), which focused heavily on it's authentic traditional home-made roots. This brand was consistent throughout the web-design and product label designs. The golden text used presented on a charcoal background provides the Moonshine a rural feel while keeping as a professional product which could be sold on the market. The ram's head icon is added to reinforce this rural connection. The web design layout presents vibrant images of the Moonshine, photo edited into different environments to give customers a feel of the strong and nostalgic connection between the range and their 'home' in Mid Wales.

The website was built on the Squarespace Ecommerce platform, allowing customers to purchase items directly from the website with ease. The 'Welsh Slate' and white colour scheme used throughout allows the products to really stand out on the page, coupled with the 'Welsh Gold' text which keeps the design true to its roots.
