Fivenines

Fivenines IT is a consultancy run by Rhys Davies, offering honest, expert advice to businesses that need to take control of their IT. Rhys needed a site that reflected the clarity and directness of his approach without the β€˜technical jargon”.

PROBLEM

Rhys came to us without an existing brand or website. He had been playing around with the name Fivenines, and a tagline. He didn’t have any or imagery, and given the nature of his work, trying to take staged shots of IT consultancy didn’t make much sense.

He was upfront from the start, saying he might be β€œa nightmare to work with” in such a tight timeframe, but once we got stuck in, we quickly found our rhythm. With just two days to bring everything together.

SOLUTION

The name Fivenines comes from a core IT concept: systems that achieve 99.999% reliability, the gold standard. That idea formed the foundation of the brand. We built a logo where the β€˜V’ in Five doubles as both a tick mark (symbolising approval and sign-off) and a subtle nod to the Roman numeral V, reinforcing the β€œfive nines” concept.

Since photography wasn’t the right fit for this project, we leaned into a stylised artwork approach, we create a distinctive look and feel. This gave the brand a modern look that helps it stand apart from the often dated or overly corporate feel of typical IT consultancy.

We dissected the two-day window into focused design sprints, allocating specific blocks of time for branding, structure, layout, and content. Surprisingly, that tight framework helped speed things up.
